Quarterly City Owned Property Offer Review

In 2024 the City of Geneva adopted a policy for the periodic review of property owned by the City and for review of offers to purchase that property for private use. As a part of that process the City reviews offers received once a quarter. Criteria for review of those offers is defined in the policy and includes looking both at the purchase price, the taxes that would be generated by the property following the sale, goals of the City as defined in the Comprehensive Plan, and the potential costs of the transfer and cost avoided by no longer owning the property.

Offers may be made on any City owned property but the current list of parcels that the City has identified as appropriate for sale is below. The 2025 First Quarter review is scheduled for Monday Feb. 3rd, any offers received on or after Feb. 3 will be reviewed in the 2nd quarter on April 4th. The City reserves the right to decline an offer for any reason if it is deemed to not be in the best interest of the future of the City.

The form for property offers can be found on our website here

GCSD capital project

Geneva CSD 2025 Capital Improvement Project Proposal

In February, Geneva City School District residents will have an opportunity to vote on a $33,600,000 capital improvement project that is being proposed to implement health, safety, and security upgrades, asset preservation measures, and academic program enhancements at school buildings and facilities.

The proposed capital project would have zero additional impact on taxpayers. Geneva CSD benefits from a high rate of New York State building aid (approximately 90 percent), which means the district receives about $9 back for every $10 spent on eligible capital project work. The district would use the Capital Reserve Fund to pay the difference.

Learn more about the project online at www.genevacsd.org and at the public information meeting on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The vote will be on Feb. 6 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the North Street School mini gym.
