December City Manager Report 2023

We received two grant award announcements this week:

The first grant is from NYSERDA and is awarded due to our Climate Smart Communities work, which the shared Sustainability position with the Town has been able to bring back. This award is for $10,000 to go towards the purchase of an electric mower. We have budgeted for two new mowers in 2024 and this will offset the cost of purchasing one of these as in electric model, which is slightly more expensive than the model we were looking to procure.

The second grant is part of the Regional Economic Development Council Consolidated Funding Application Awards and is for work on the trail connections in the BOA area. This grant is for $180,000 to expand and maintain the rail trail.

2024 Budget is now live on CM budget page to view full city manager report please visit:

debris pick up

Property owners and residents may place leaves and yard debris between the sidewalk and curb for DPW removal.   Please place all leaves grass clippings, weeds and small brush debris in paper bags.  Plastic bags will not be picked up. If interested, the City of Geneva will provide a limited amount of paper lawn/leaf bags which can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office located on the first floor of City Hall, 47 Castle Street during normal operating hours.

Loose brush and branch debris must be no longer than 4 feet and not more than 6 inches in diameter. Consolidating small piles of debris into larger piles will help expedite pick up.

Happening now, Fall YARD DEBRIS PICK UP!

Please note we will not collect debris on private property, near parked cars, or in plastic bags.  No stumps, rocks, stone, construction debris, lumber, plastic, garbage, glass, furniture, rugs, bedding, tires, etc. will be picked up.  Please consider recycling and  coordinate with your trash hauler for these items.

Please be advised that property owners and residents are encouraged to please bring all yard debris to the City’s Resource Recovery Park at 41 Doran Avenue during the following hours.

Resource Recovery Park New Hours:

Monday-Friday 7:30am-3pm and Saturday 8am-12pm only for yard waste and leaf debris. The City DPW is currently operating the Resource Recover Park facility at 45 Doran Ave for fall leaves and yard debris drop off Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

The facility and vermiculture trenches at Doran Avenue had been operated under contract with Closed Loop Systems.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, Closed Loop Systems ended their operation last month.  While the city continues to plan for ongoing operations at the site, the local compost hauler, Growing Cycle, has provided two green toters allowing drop off service for residents who had a prior agreement for bringing food scraps to Doran Avenue.  Growing Cycle is offering this service at no charge to the city.  They also provide a curbside compost pickup option to those interested for a small fee. A sign with their contact information has been posted at the Doran Avenue gate and below. We apologize for any inconvenience the Closed Loop System situation has caused.  We hope to report back on a solution soon and remain committed to diverting food waste from the landfills.

Our Closed Loop Systems Center is temporarily closed, please contact Growing Cycle at:
