october city manager report

November 2023 City Manager Report:

Housing Session: I have received additional information from the County about the potential of holding a special City of Geneva work session around housing in early December. This meeting will be for council as well as members of the board of supervisors to dive into the housing report and begin to lay out action steps for turning the report into changes in Geneva. The steering committee on housing at the County level is meeting in the next few weeks and will discuss their ability to support sessions like these. City staff have offered to co-facilitate this work session.

Flooding in Geneva Public Meeting: Our Public Safety Departments will host a community meeting the week of November 13 on the impacts of flooding in the City of Geneva. The time and location are being confirmed. Myself along with members from DPW, Fire, and Police will be on hand to discuss storm damage prevention, mitigation, and impacts. We will discuss what the city staff are doing on these efforts and measures residents can take in minimizing the impact of significant rain storms in the City.

Community Compact: The Police Chief and I have both met with our Department of Justice representative to discuss community compact. Compact began as a response facilitated by the DOJ. The look of Compact in 2023/24 may be different as change has occurred since inception. DOJ will support us as we look at how to evolve compact to the Geneva of today. Chief Colton and I are committed to finding ways to enhance our department offerings through community input and involvement. DOJ involvement will begin early in 2024, in the meantime Chief and I are working on ways to move this work forward.
