Local Law Change on Ballot:

We have confirmed with the Board of Elections that the local law change to stagger council terms will be on the ballot. The ballot for November will be certified on September 14th, at which time we will make the ballot description available. Samples of the actual ballots will be available September 22nd.

Marina Update:

Preliminary engineering and permitting are complete for both the marina and long pier extension, so the next steps in the process will be to reevaluate the overall construction costs, budgets, and grant funding to determine what can be built within the available funds and if phasing is necessary.  Upon establishment of the final program, we would proceed with final engineering, bidding, and construction administration. We will also be looking at revenue and expenses for ongoing support of the marina as we move forward.

Infrastructure Update:

The City teams continue to work to define and eliminate any challenges occurring within the City infrastructure when and if they are found. The Department of Public Works is continuing to complete sewer inspections, clean, and televise mainline piping systems. As this work is ongoing, we continue to work closely with engineering consultants to prepare any proposed site remuneration and or capital improvements needed to our systems.

City staff have been speaking and meeting with property owners and we continue to investigate and learn about the intricate infrastructure systems throughout our city neighborhoods. Any claims that have been received have been forwarded to our insurance providers.

ONTARIO COUNTY TO HOST OPEN HOUSE IN SUPPORT OF COUNTY-WIDE PARKS AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN:

August 11, 2023, Canandaigua, NY: On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Ontario County invites the community to attend their second open house in support of their Parks and Recreation Master Plan which is currently in development. The open house will be held at the Ontario County Safety Training Facility, 2914 County Rd 48, Canandaigua.

All are welcome to attend, and attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the planning process and provide feedback on County recreational facilities and offerings. This feedback will inform the County’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Public input is essential to the planning process and necessary to ensure the forthcoming Master Plan successfully responds to local needs.

The Ontario County Parks System currently includes seven (7) recreational spaces which the County owns and maintains. The County works to make recreational and educational opportunities available to all members of the public. The County’s forthcoming Parks and Recreation Master Plan will act as a guide for decision-making on park system development and management over the next 10 to 20 years.

In addition to attending the August 30, 2023 open house, the community can also provide input via public survey. Questions on the survey cover issues such as barriers to participation, facility needs, user satisfaction, and public outreach. The Ontario County Parks and Recreation Master Plan survey can be accessed at htps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OntarioCoParks.

For more information about the Ontario County Parks and Recreation Master Plan, residents can contact Thomas Lyon, Senior Planner, at Thomas.Lyon@ontariocountyny.gov or (585) 396 – 9698.
