The State funds will provide emergency repair grants to homeowners who suffered damage to their primary residence in the following counties – Clinton, Essex, and Hamilton in the North Country; Ontario in the Finger Lakes; and Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester in the Hudson Valley. This funding is in addition to the $3 million announced by Governor Hochul last month to assist homeowners affected by historic flooding. “This additional funding will help to provide relief to even more New Yorkers impacted by these devastating floods as they work to repair their homes and return to their normal lives,” Governor Hochul said. “My administration remains committed to assisting New Yorkers in any way possible as part of the recovery effort following last month’s historic storm.” The emergency grant funds announced today will cover damage incurred at a primary residence for homeowners who meet the program's income guidelines. Local Law Change on Ballot: We have confirmed with the Board of Elections that the local law change to stagger council terms will be on the ballot. The ballot for November will be certified on September 14th, at which time we will make the ballot description available. Samples of the actual ballots will be available September 22nd. Marina Update: Preliminary engineering and permitting are complete for both the marina and long pier extension, so the next steps in the process will be to reevaluate the overall construction costs, budgets, and grant funding to determine what can be built within the available funds and if phasing is necessary. Upon establishment of the final program, we would proceed with final engineering, bidding, and construction administration. We will also be looking at revenue and expenses for ongoing support of the marina as we move forward. Infrastructure Update: The City teams continue to work to define and eliminate any challenges occurring within the City infrastructure when and if they are found. The Department of Public Works is continuing to complete sewer inspections, clean, and televise mainline piping systems. As this work is ongoing, we continue to work closely with engineering consultants to prepare any proposed site remuneration and or capital improvements needed to our systems. City staff have been speaking and meeting with property owners and we continue to investigate and learn about the intricate infrastructure systems throughout our city neighborhoods. Any claims that have been received have been forwarded to our insurance providers.
